Is Double-Masking the only solution?
There has been much talk of late about double-masking, but is it really necessary? Is that the only solution?
Reasons for Double-Masking
Perhaps reasons for double-masking are as follows:
+ current disposable facemasks do not offer sufficient protection, especially where current disposable facemasks do not offer good face-fit, and hence leakages arise through gaps at the cheeks
+ unless you buy and wear branded and certified disposable facemasks which offer at least 95% Particle Filtration Efficiency, you cannot be guaranteed of protection, especially when you buy and wear cheap but low and unknown filtration efficiency facemasks
+ many reuseable fabric facemasks, especially where fabrics are stretchable, and also where you can see light coming through when you hold the facemasks against sunlight at the windows, do not really offer protection at all, because hundreds of viruses can pass through just one pinhole
+ it is very important that fabric facemasks are certified and confirmed as offering certain levels of protection
– such as 100% droplets impermeability
– at least 99% particle filtration efficiency which sieves out majority of viruses
+ sure, there are many facemasks which are very thick, and which offer good protection
– however, thick facemasks does not mean they are useful
– so, what is required are special techical fabrics whih can offer good protection, and/ or which offer good breathability
– there is no point buying 3-ply, 4-ply or 5-ply facemasks when you cannot breathe through this fabric, or cannot walk even 100m wearing a facemask
