Any manufacturer can manufacture or claim to manufacture high performance facemasks, but seriously, how would we know if the facemasks can really protect us?
Hence, in order to ensure that facemasks fabrics can perform, for instance, filter out viruses, then it would be necessary for manufacturers to produce facemask fabrics in accordance with certain Standards
Standards are proposed by certain institutions and are meant as a reliable guide of, for instance, material performance
So, when manufacturers wish to produce facemasks, they have to make sure that their facemasks, or facemask fabrics are produced in accordance with relevant Standards
After producing their facemasks or facemask fabrics, manufacturers will then have to send their products to an independent testing and certification agency to have their products tested and certified as meeting relevant Standards
Once certified, consumers can then be assured that manufacturers facemasks or facemask fabrics are safe for use
